Raised around joinery.
Both of Kevin's parents worked in joinery, so he learned to read a well-made thing from a young age: how a drawer runs, how a door sits, why one finish ages well and another doesn't. He went on to train as a plumber and spent years in construction, kitchen design and renovation across Australia.
He grew up in a French-speaking home, with the French taste for quality in simplicity: fewer things, chosen carefully, made properly. The French have a word for the care behind it, savoir-faire — skill taken seriously for its own sake, not only for what it earns. And a phrase for the life it serves, l'art de vivre — a home is somewhere you live well, not somewhere you display.
Maison Poirier is built on that: a house to live in, not just to look at.
